RED SKY IN THE MORNING

When daylight came this morning I had to take this photo, this is taken from my back door looking over to the Isle of Skye on the mainland. You can see the hills in the background, A fantastic photo if I had a good camera, but could not resist.... When we expect bad weather the Isle of Skye seems very close to us for whatever reason I think this means bad weather coming in, I can hear the sea against the shore so will wait patiently.......Back to finishing my kilt socks or kilt hose, and tartan dancer's socks were cast on last night so will be working on them as well.

I ordered the skein winder from Forest Fibres they deliver really quick, An ashford skein winder that I've wanted for ages, plus my niddy noddy again made by ashford but bought via ebay......

Kilt Hose KAL

this is the shetland wool that came in yesterday for the March Kilt hose KAL, 4 packs already sent out to the members of the group, am waiting for another batch so should be here next week. mine is the red and also th blue lovat, you really can't see the shades as they are all in sealed bags and I don't want to break the seal........ Back now to the writing of the pattern, got the top figured out so next onto the main part of the actual sock.

Now I have not taken the wool out of the bags but wanted to show what came in the post..I am going to have fun knitting some of this lot.........Sheila (from Scalpay Linen) Are you out there? New Hand Knitting Yarn

Have you tried this yarn? It is gorgeous, Made in Scotland by Rennie, I have put the purple blend onto the needles for a baby hat, I have never used it before, it is just coming onto the market, This one is a Supersoft Cashmere DK, 87.5% lambswool and 12.5% cashmere......

I hhve not gone near the other 2 balls yet, but will do so soon, the oatmeal is pure wool in aran weight, and the grey is wool/lambswool blend.......

Purple dyed hand knitted socks

Another pair of my hand dyed wool hand knitted boot socks. Actually there is 3 pairs in this shade ready to post tomorrow......The heels are also reinforced with cotton.........Hand dyed by me using jacquard dye in purple.......not knitted by me...........

I've just to knit beanie hats with this shade...........

Kilt Hose last of the Leaf Green

Last pair of the leaf green hose knitted, and ready to post off in the morning, a different colour for the next pair as it gets boring knitting the same shade. Again this is hand knitted using shetland wool, very soft a 4 stitch cable again......... Another Pair of Hand Knitted Kilt Hose

This pair of kilt socks is again knitted with shetland dk in leaf green, last pair in this shade I think for now, Onto a bluey colour next, the top of this pair was a favourite of my gran called Indian Corn Stitch Top. A very simple neat top. Photo does not show up as good as I thought it would, better take another one outside.....

Now if you want to join my kilthose knitalong then join my yahoo group and I will post details there as I have them for you, My aim is to begin in March, so if you have colour preferences then let me know, I will be posting lists of colours as soon as I have but if I had feedback from those who were going to knit then that would be fab..........

wishing you a very happy new yearI wanted to do something fun over the new year so this is it, I am calling it "the dreaded hat", as it has dreads and is quite funky, I am however not allowed to wear it to the Post office when I go on Saturday so my wee girl tells me......

Hand knitted using my wool from Uruguay in 3 shades which I think work well together, thanks to him indoors for modelling for me...
